How To Call Mount Jedi Survivor Controls And Mount Unlocking Guide
Navigating the vast landscapes of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor becomes significantly faster and more convenient once you acquire the ability to tame and summon mounts. These biological companions allow Cal Kestis to cross hazardous terrain, scale steep cliffs, and travel between distant objectives with ease. Understanding how to unlock these creatures and master their specific control inputs is essential for smooth exploration across planets like Koboh and Jedha.
Unlocking Mounts Through Story Progression
Mounts in Jedi: Survivor are tied directly to your main campaign progression, meaning you cannot access them immediately upon starting the game. As you advance through the main story on Koboh, Cal will unlock the Force Tame ability during crucial narrative milestones. This key force power allows him to pacify local wildlife and convert them into reliable mounts for traversal.
The first rideable creature you encounter is the Nekko, a bipedal beast ideal for navigating slippery slopes and performing high jumps. Later in the story, while exploring the desert planet of Jedha, Cal gains the ability to tame the Spammel, a tall creature built for trekking across deep sand dunes. Returning to previously explored areas with these newly acquired abilities opens up hidden pathways and secret collectibles.
Mastering the Control Scheme to Call Your Mount
Once you have unlocked a mount type in a region, calling it to your position requires pressing a single assigned button. On PlayStation consoles, press R1 to summon your mount, while Xbox players should press the RB button. Keyboard and mouse users can press the default dedicated key, which is mapped to the Call Mount action in the control settings menu.
It is important to note that mounts can only be summoned in open areas where they are naturally permitted to roam. If you attempt to call a mount inside a tight cave, indoor facility, or during certain scripted story encounters, the action will be unavailable. Keeping an eye on your surroundings ensures that your summon command works instantly when needed.
Mounted Controls and Advanced Traversal Mechanics
Controlling a mount is intuitive, but mastering its specific movement capabilities provides a major advantage during exploration. While riding a Nekko, pressing the jump button allows you to perform a double jump, launching Cal much higher than his standard jump. You can also leap directly off the back of your mount to reach high ledges that are otherwise unreachable on foot.
Combat options are somewhat restricted while mounted, but Cal can still perform basic lightsaber strikes to defend against aggressive wildlife or Imperial patrols. To dismount from your creature, simply press the circle button on PlayStation, the B button on Xbox, or the corresponding key on PC. Taking full advantage of these combined mechanics makes navigating large open zones efficient and enjoyable.
